Website Migration
-
Q: Why do I have to transfer my website? What does website migration include?
A: If your present web hosting provider can no longer satisfy the requirements of your website, or when you face continual network downtime, or if you have to wait for hours for the customer support team to reply back to you, it may be smart to switch your provider, i.e. to move all the files for your web sites along with your databases from your present provider to your new provider. At ewh, we realize that this can often be hard and time–consuming. Because of this, we’ll perform all that for you for free! Our expert technical staff reps will move your web site content from your present hosting provider to us. Our techs have got lots of experience migrating websites and can take care of everything – from a regular WordPress–driven weblog or Joomla™ CMS–driven website, to a very complex, custom–made application.
-
Q: Web site migration seems like a lot of work. Just how long is it going to take?
A: There are plenty of aspects to keep in mind – the total number of web files, the physical size of the database, the complexity of the site itself and the current workload of our website migration experts, etc. Having said that, we do our very best to accomplish all web site migrations in a 48–hour time frame. Smaller–sized web sites are migrated faster – usually within 24 hours.
-
Q: Do you require something from me before you start moving my site?
A: Yes. We’ll need the name of the site that you’d like us to move. We’ll also need a means to log into your present web hosting account so that we can get the content pertaining to your web site.
-
Q: The login details for my hosting account are delicate. How can I trust you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the agreement that we will have with you as a client. We are focused on protecting the safety of the private data gathered from the clients. To do this, we employ technical security measures so as to avoid the loss, the misappropriation, the modification or the unauthorized leak of the private information under our control. The security measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and administrative procedures to protect and secure the data that we acquire on the Internet. When we ask customers to present financial info (such as a credit card number), this info is masked using the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption technique.
-
Q: What about downtime? Will my web site be unavailable?
A: While we transfer your site, it will be available both in your web hosting account with us and in your account with your old hosting provider. As soon as the transfer is over, we will make certain that everything is working correctly and that the integrity of your data is not jeopardized before informing you that the migration is done. Then we’ll tell you how to transfer the domain over to your web hosting account with us and how to modify the DNS resource records.
-
Q: Will my old hosting provider need to provide any information/help?
A: Nope. We will never get in touch with your web hosting provider about anything. They will not be aware of the web site transfer either.
-
Q: Which hosting platforms do you support?
A: Yep. We support all standard Linux–powered web hosting platforms. We do not support Windows–powered web hosting platforms, since we don’t provide Windows web hosting services ourselves. We also do not support proprietary website creation and administration tools like Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
